Alongside day-to-day leadership, you’ll play a key role in streamlining procedures, improving controls, and identifying opportunities to grow revenue from payroll and related services.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of 3 payroll professionals
- Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of multiple payrolls across a sizeable client portfolio
- Act as an escalation point for complex queries and client issues
- Review and improve payroll processes to increase efficiency, consistency and client experience
- Identify and propose service improvements and new revenue streams (e.g., additional advisory/support services linked to payroll)
- Ensure payroll activity remains compliant with relevant legislation and best practice
- Build strong internal relationships with wider teams to support a seamless client service
- Proven experience in payroll (practice experience is ideal, but not essential if you have strong multi-client exposure)
- Experience managing or mentoring others (or ready to step into a leadership role)
- Strong working knowledge of payroll processes and compliance
- A process-improvement mindset — you enjoy finding better ways of doing things
- Confident communicator with a customer-focused approach
- £40,000 salary
- Hybrid working: 3 days in the office (Oakham), 2 days from home
