Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you’ll take responsibility for day?to?day financial accounting while helping to shape reporting, controls and processes as the finance function continues to evolve. What you’ll be doing
You’ll own a wide and interesting remit, including:
- Running the monthly close end to end
- Producing management accounts, P&Ls, variance analysis and commentary
- Preparing budgets, forecasts and longer?term plans
- Overheads reporting and supporting budget holders
- Managing VAT returns, payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supporting the audit process and statutory reporting
- Monitoring cashflow and capital expenditure
- Improving reporting and reducing manual work on Sage
- Strengthening financial controls, processes and documentation
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) or part?qualified and close to final exams
- Strong financial accounting experience in industry or practice
- Solid understanding of FRS102 and core statutory requirements
- Confident producing management accounts and analysis
- Reliable, detail?focused and comfortable owning deadlines
- Happy working in an agile, SME?style environment
- Enjoys ownership and autonomy
- Likes rolling up their sleeves and improving systems and processes
- Will question things and looks for continuous improvement
- Wants to make a visible difference, not just “run the process”
- Practice or audit background
- Experience with Sage or similar ERP systems
- VAT and payroll exposure
- An interest in systems, reporting improvement and process efficiency
- A genuinely friendly, supportive culture — no politics, no egos
