Financial Controller | Exclusive to Cherry | Central Nottingham

Cherry Professional are currently supporting a high growth SME based in Nottingham in their search for a Financial Controller.

The business is looking for a Financial Controller with outstanding analytical skills to manage their finances and deliver insights that enable them to measure and report on strategic initiatives aligned with their business and financial plan.

Who are they looking for?

  • Relevant qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA), and 4-5 years' experience post qualification, Qualified by experience candidates will also be considered

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise and analyse data with accuracy, converting company goals into numbers

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, work, and deliver towards objectives and key results

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft precise information in both presentation and written formats.

  • Interest in financial modelling, business analysis, FP&A, business integration, analytics in a non-corporate environment

The Role…

In this role, you will continue to evolve and maintain the fundamental financial systems within the organisation. You will act as the financial guardian and set out, implement, and evaluate strategic plans to support broader analytics and planning. There is huge opportunity to expand and grow within the organisation for the right candidate.

  • Overseeing the finance function, ensuring proper administration of their financial affairs, and advising and assisting the senior leadership on budget and financial planning strategies

  • Ensuring effective control and management of their income and expenditure in order to provide meaningful, accurate and timely management accounting and performance measurement information to senior leadership

  • Working closely with senior leadership team to assist in developing strategic financial plans, and forecasting short-term financial outlooks using a range of predictive tools

  • Managing the production of monthly accounts to predetermined standards and timescales, including other key indicators and analysis of specific areas as requested

  • Advising and supporting staff on budgeting and on interpretation of financial information, as all well as advising senior leadership on all financial issues

Additionally you will have excellent communication skills, be a real self-starter capable of working as part of a small team and combine both technical and commercial finance skills. Experience in sectors such as logistics, retail or manufacturing are advantageous.
