Finance Manager | Derby/Nottingham Border | Up to £45,000 DOE |Engineering

Cherry Professional?are excited to be partnering with an engineering business based on the border of Nottingham and Derby, who are looking for a Finance Manager to join them on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information and financial controls for your assigned business unit. This role reports directly into BU General Manager with a dotted line into the group CFO when it comes to accounts and financial reporting. You will also be responsible for managing a small team of 3.

What you’ll do…

- Prepare and supervise all month end tasks such as accruals, prepayments and closing of ledgers.
- Full control of the balance sheet and any analysis that might be necessary.
- Be actively involved with the annual budget preparation process.
- Analyse and explain overhead spend and variances to budget.
- Provide analysis to forecast the performance of the business against budget to aid decision making.
- Assist the General Manager in obtaining market intelligence to facilitate strategy and budget formulation.
- Support Project Managers in understanding their projects and potential limitations.
- Make sure the setting up and payment of suppliers are performed in accordance with our control procedures and agreed payment terms.
- Support the General Manager to control overhead spend to be kept within budget.
- Manage the statutory year end audit by providing the necessary information.
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
- Prepare the Corporation Tax information to Tax Advisors for review and submission.
- Supervise the SAGE Payroll and payroll processing.

What you’ll need…

- CIMA, ACCA or ACA OR QBE with strong engineering/manufacturing experience.
- Knowledge of group reporting is an advantage.
- Ability to translate financial analysis in to clear strategic objectives.
- Able to build and sustain relationships based on trust at all levels.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of basic accounting functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Timesheets.
- Experience of managing people.
- A self-starter who can work on their own initiative but also be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong IT skills in particular, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Knowledge of using SAP would be beneficial.
