Finance Manager | Chesterfield | Full-Time | To £45k DOE + Benefits | Site Based
We’re looking for a commercially astute Finance Manager to join a growing professional services organisation in Chesterfield. As part of a close-knit finance team, you’ll play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business through robust financial oversight, leadership, and operational collaboration.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional with strong reporting, leadership, and stakeholder management skills who thrives in a fast-paced, service-led environment. The position is based on-site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a small finance support team, promoting a culture of high performance and accountability.
- Deliver timely and accurate monthly management accounts, KPI reports, and board-level packs.
- Maintain integrity across the general ledger, ensuring consistent application of accounting standards and policies (e.g. accruals, prepayments, revenue recognition).
- Lead budgeting and forecasting cycles, working closely with key stakeholders to provide analysis, identify variances, and drive financial accountability.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and presentations tailored to key internal stakeholders.
- Oversee reconciliations of control accounts, resolving anomalies proactively.
- Drive process improvement and efficiencies.
- Play a lead role in year-end processes, working alongside external auditors to produce statutory financial statements and reports.
- Manage VAT returns and associated reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Cash flow forecasting with the senior finance team.
About You:
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA or ACA) – QBE candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
- Strong background in financial management, experience within a professional services environment will be an advantage but not essential
- Strong Excel and comfortable using reporting tools and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey financial insights clearly and confidently to non-finance stakeholders.
- Naturally proactive, organised, and adaptable — comfortable juggling a variety of priorities and deadlines.
- Team-oriented with strong leadership instincts and a collaborative mindset.
