Cherry Professional is excited to announce an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join a well-established company in Nottingham. Our client is a leader in the retail sector, renowned for their ambitious growth and innovative projects.
About the Role: Join the dynamic commercial finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance – Commercial & Operations. In this role, you will provide vital financial support and collaborate with senior stakeholders to advance the transformation agenda.
You will play a key role in shaping and influencing decision-making, evaluating large-scale business changes, and ensuring that all decisions are grounded in sound commercial insight and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Support: Offer robust financial guidance on strategic, cross-functional initiatives with a 3-5 year outlook to help shape the future direction of the business. Your support will span across multiple functions, including commercial, retail, IT, and external partners.
- Stakeholder Partnership: Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, facilitating informed decision-making and driving alignment across functions through effective influence and communication.
- Financial Governance: Oversee the financial approval process for large-scale, multi-year business investments and programs. Guide the Opticians Leadership Team through comprehensive business case reviews and ensure proper sign-off.
- Performance Tracking: Implement a schedule of post-investment appraisals and project tracking to assess performance against business cases. Challenge the business to make necessary adjustments and hold senior leaders accountable for underperformance.
- Balance and Risk Management: Ensure that the overall transformation program balances near-term and long-term goals, aligning closely with the organization’s risk appetite.
What You’ll Need to Have
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with over three years of post-qualification experience, preferably in commercial retail or FMCG roles.
- Proven ability to manage and influence multiple senior stakeholders to achieve common goals.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills, with the ability to drive change and manage processes effectively.
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, with an understanding of investment appraisal methodologies.
- Passionate, resilient, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
