For this role, we are looking for Accounts Receivable and Credit Control bias, but you’re a budding account at heart, able to accommodate broader finance responsibilities than AR only.
The Role
Reporting into senior finance and commercial leadership, the Finance & Credit Manager will lead the credit control function (team of 5) and cash management activity across the business. You will play a critical role in improving cash flow, managing risk, partnering with operational teams, and supporting transformation initiatives including ERP and acquisitions. Including the reporting of key information and balance sheet reconciliation (aged debt, revenue allocation etc)
This is a hands‑on leadership role with significant exposure across Finance, Operations, Sales, and Group stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control & Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the credit control team
- Manage aged debt against agreed targets, conducting regular reviews
- Act as the escalation point for complex or overdue payment issues
- Ensure credit policies and processes are followed consistently
- Work closely with depot, sales, and operational teams to resolve payment obstacles
- Manage the business’s factoring programme, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Assess and monitor customer credit limits to reduce non‑factorable transactions
- Liaise with Group and external stakeholders to optimise the facility
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies and legacy issues
- Deliver timely, accurate reporting to support month‑end close
- Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts with customer‑level insight
- Develop and enhance cash flow models to support forecasting and banking requirements
- Ensure banking processes and cash postings are accurate and robust
- Recommend appropriate bad debt and credit provisions
- Strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks
- Lead the single‑customer process project
- Support ERP implementation, data migration, and acquisition integration
- Partner with the Accounting team on month‑end, budgeting, and forecasting
- Provide clear analysis of customers, debtors, and collection performance
Essential
- Proven experience in a credit, finance, or cash management role
- Strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills (Supervisory or Secondments)
- Excellent analytical capability with a strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator able to influence operational and commercial teams
- Experience working in a multi‑site, operational business
- Driven, actively studying ACCA / CIMA
- Experience with factoring arrangements
- ERP implementation or finance transformation experience
- Background in engineering, manufacturing, rentals, or asset‑heavy industries
